Community Art Initiatives The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities commissions artists to create permanent public art works for neighborhood sites that have been nominated by District residents. The goal of the program is to involve community members in bringing quality public art projects to their neighborhoods while creating opportunities for local artists. The Arts Commission is interested in commissioning artwork that specifically takes into account community interests and the public use of each site.
